OCTA
The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has allocated $42.37 million to support community-based transit services throughout the county. This funding will help cities expand and improve shuttle services, including trolleys and other transit circulators, designed to meet local needs and increase accessibility. These services are part of OCTA’s ongoing effort to enhance connectivity between neighborhoods, major attractions, and regional transportation hubs.
The new funding, part of the voter-approved Measure M sales tax, will support 11 existing services, such as seasonal trolleys in Laguna Beach and San Clemente, and introduce eight new transit options in cities like Irvine, Laguna Niguel, and Mission Viejo. These programs provide efficient, eco-friendly alternatives for residents and visitors, especially during busy times like special events or tourist seasons.
City of Santa Ana
The Santa Ana City Council has unanimously approved the $2.9 billion Related Bristol mixed-use urban village project, marking a significant step in urban development for the city. This transformative project, spearheaded by Related Companies, will revitalize a key corridor on Bristol Street by creating a new urban village that blends residential, commercial, and public spaces. The development will feature a mix of affordable and market-rate housing, retail spaces, and public amenities, aiming to enhance community connectivity and local economic growth. This initiative aligns with Santa Ana goals of modernizing infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its residents.
