This week, ACC-OC hosted a webinar with John Lambeth, Founder and CEO of Civitas, on City Financing Strategies and Solutions with a focus on funding mechanisms that integrate public-private partnerships involving business communities, property owners, and city governments.
Key topics included the history and evolution of dedicated funding, traditional and innovative models like business improvement districts (BIDs), property and business improvement districts (PBIDs), and tourism improvement districts (TIDs), with examples from California and across the country. The session also explored various public and private funding sources for community organizations including the necessity of a collaborative approach for successful district formation. The webinar provided comprehensive insights into effective community funding strategies, stressing collaboration, innovative financing, and structured planning.

City of Seal Beach
The Seal Beach Police Department is hosting National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Eisenhower Park near the Seal Beach Pier.
This event aims to bring the community together to take a stand against crime, drugs, and disorder in their neighborhoods. It will feature SWAT vehicles, mobile command post tours, police motorcycles, a petting zoo, OCFA equipment and booth, drones, cotton candy, children's face painting, and hot dogs and chips provided by Seal Beach Lions.
The event is free to the public and is meant to promote cooperative relationships and reinforce the need for community involvement in crime prevention efforts.

City of Garden Grove
The community is invited to join the Garden Grove Police Department (GGPD) at the annual National Night Out, a free community-building event featuring family activities, giveaways, live demonstrations, and raffle prizes on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event will take place in front of the Garden Grove Police Headquarters, located at 11301 Acacia Parkway.
Event attendees can meet Garden Grove officers, crime prevention officers, and GGPD’s three support canines, as well as participate in contests and try on police gear. Other activities include public safety demonstrations by the K-9 unit and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit. Attendees will also learn about neighborhood watch programs and how to get involved with GGPD’s Community Liaison Division.

City of Fountain Valley
Join Mayor Grandis for a Mayor's Breakfast on Thursday, July 18 from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. The Mayor's Breakfast will be held at UCI Health - Fountain Valley (previously Fountain Valley Regional Hospital), located at 11190 Warner Ave. Conference Center Suite 214 in Building #3.
Mayor Grandis will be joined by guest speaker Micheal Ishii, Retired Hawthorne Police Chief.
A continental breakfast will be provided to attendees. A $2 per plate donation is highly encouraged. No RSVP is required.
Orange County Veterans Cemetary Update
The upcoming California budget includes an additional $5 million for the Southern California Veterans Cemetery in Orange County. This increases the total funding to $50 million, nearly 40% of the $126 million required for the first phase of construction at Anaheim Hills' Gypsum Canyon. Officials are optimistic about the project's future, now more secure with this latest grant.
The California Department of Veteran Affairs has finalized a federal grant application, complementing county and state funding. Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva emphasized the importance of state and federal collaboration, stating that this funding and the grant application are crucial steps towards providing a dignified resting place for veterans.
